B-17

The Boeing B-17 had a crew of ten and was heavily armed with 50 caliber machine guns.  Because of this and tactics developed by the Army Air Corps, they managed to fly many successful  missions.  However, losses were heavy at times due to the choice of daylight bombing as compared to the British heavy bombers who flew night missions.
