Stratoliner

Boeing's future in commercial aviation was secured  after the introduction of their huge four engine transport.  Based on the wing of the B-17, the Stratoliner received a larger pressurized fuselage to accommodate passengers.  This design offered a healthy dose of  passenger comfort at a time when that was not the norm.
