To those interested in aviation, the word "phantom " evokes a vision of a sinister aircraft with unusual, non-conforming design characteristics. Probably the easiest of all jet aircraft to recognize, it shows a tip dihedral and a pronounced anhedral of the horizontal tail surfaces. Shown is a Navy variant but Air Force and Marines operated the F-4 Phantom as well.
