Hurricane

A respected fighter pilot who took part in the Battle of Britain was Douglas Badder, a career military pilot who lost a leg in a training accident.  Despite his loss, he excelled at the controls of the Spitfires and Hurricanes he flew.  Shot down over France, he had to leave his stricken aircraft and his artificial leg behind after ending up in a German prison camp.  He talked the Luftwaffe into allowing a special drop by the Royal Air Force of a replacement leg; after receiving the new leg he promptly tried to escape.  Illustrated is Badder's Hurricane with artifacts and information pertaining to the period.
