The Consolidated B-24 was sometimes referred to as "the box the B-17 came in" by many of the B-17 crews. Humorous, but far from factual, the B-24's Davis airfoil and high aspect ratio wing gave the bomber great performance and, in general, the favor of the men who flew her. This illustration was created for Butler Aviation in the seventies.
