B-17 in Combat

The heavy bomber  known as the B-17 was produced in record numbers by the Boeing Airplane Company.  It was the leading edge of bomber technology at that time.  Illustrated is a box of three aircraft locked on a bomb run in very questionable weather.  Protecting the flight are mustangs  already engaged with Messerschmitt BF-109s.
