This illustration is a good study of the timeless beauty found in the biplanes of the 1930s. This Hawker is an example of the refinement achieved in biplane design, but the change was already taking place in fighter design. The BF-109 Messerschmitts of Germany were already flying. This was the last of the beautiful biplane fighters.
